Right to Life Summit |
Early registration has begun for the first annual Mid-Michigan Right to Life Summit. The theme of the conference, to be held on January 30, 2010, at the Montrose Schools Auditorium, is “How the truth affects every aspect of life.” An impressive cadre of speakers will address how supporting a culture of life involves every part of our daily existence, not just a decision to not end a pregnancy.
Larry Gross, an event organizer, said, “The speakers are diverse and dynamic. It should be a wonderful conference.”
The presenters include the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Lansing, The Most Rev. Earl Boyea; National Director of the National Black Pro-Life Congress, Elder Levon R.Yuille; and Rebecca Kiessling, attorney and author of Conceived in Rape: A Story of Hope. Michigan State Representative Paul Scott will address “Pro Life and Legislation.” Michael Voris, a former CBS reporter, will discuss how the media has affected the pro-life agenda. "Ethics and the development of moral infertility options" will be explained by Dr. Keith Beiter, MD, an OB/GYN at St Vincent’s Hospital & Medical Center in New York City. Fr. Joe Krupp, Chaplain of MSU’s St. John’s Student Center Parish and columnist for Faith magazine, will speak on the dignity of life and emcee the event.
Members of St. Robert’s Catholic Church and Mt. Zion Catholic Community, both in Flushing, have been working together since January to plan the event.
"I hope those who attend the Pro- Life Summit will gain a better understanding of how abortion not only destroys a mother's dignity, but also, how it reduces the dignity of our society as well,” said Barb Ortega, an event organizer. “I hope after the summit many will be inspired to stand up for the innocent unborn in their own communities."
Cost for early registration is $30.00 for adults and $10.00 for high school students. At the door charges are $35.00 and $15.00. There is no fee for clergy.
